Gov Dannel p. Malloy on Sunday announced that his Government is investigating “numerous incidents” of potential fraud against the State by people-including State employees-who receive benefits from federal nutrition assistance programs additional disaster Hurricane/Tropical Storm Irene.
“The idea that someone would use the storm destroyed as an opportunity to cheat the public programs is the rage,” Malloy said. “The fact that some of this may have potential fraud committed by employees of the State makes this situation even more offensive. One of the fundamental responsibility of Governments is to ensure the proper conduct and honest by the employees themselves. Unfortunately, we found examples of behaviors that, if fully verified, can result in dismissal or even prosecution. “
Malloy said he wanted to make clear that, now, he is “just deal with the appearance of impropriety.” Any potential fraud incident will be thoroughly investigated before action is taken against anyone.
It is clear that said any State employees involved will face prosecution and termination.
